Designed to replace a legacy system on processing equipment, this air cylinder was designed to improve problematic areas while still being a drop-in replacement. I was responsible for all CAD design and component specification, and oversaw the production of parts on modern CNC equipment.
Harley Davidson FLH
American motorcycles are known for massive bottom-end torque and a truly unique personality. This 1972 FLH was no exception, and a fun project that served as my baptism into the world of American motorcycles.

The Heart & Soul
These machines are hardly known for their reliability. In order to ensure a ride that could put in the miles, the cases were split and the crank removed to check play in all bearings, as well as the balance.
A Needed Refresh
Harley Davidson 4-speed transmission are a beautiful piece of engineering. Incredibly simple, effective, and robust. To keep up with the reliability theme, the entire tramission was torn down, and all worn gears and bearings replaced.
The finished mechanical powerhouse. After all machining was done on the cylinders, heads, and valves, assembly was performed. These engines are a work of art, and a good part of me wanted to keep it as a house decoration.
